Obituary: Charles Bradford “Brad” Whitesides

August 12, 1950 – November 1, 2022

Charles Bradford “Brad” Whitesides was born August 12, 1950, in Shreveport, La. He graduated from C.E. Byrd High in 1968 and LSU in 1972 in Journalism. He dedicated his professional life to his clients, elections, issues and persuading everyone around him to think more deeply, live more intentionally, love more fully, and build a better community. He started his career working for his father when, as an elementary school student, he wrote the jingle for 7 Eleven’s new ICEE machine. Brad owned his advertising agency for more than 40 years and his wit and wisdom were legendary. He loved the Red Sox, LSU, Shreveport, the beach, his family, his friends, his dogs, his sisters, Charlcie and Jill, his first wife, Pam, and his last wife, Joan, more than any man ever loved anything. And then, he loved his stepchildren, Nick (Kristen), Andy (Nicole) and Matthew, and his children, Wylie “Chris” and Kelly even more than that. Brad knew that life was absurd. His sense of humor could be equally dark or silly. He made children and adults laugh at the most inappropriate moments, but he was equally profound and serious in his passion for politics, people, storytelling, sports and living. All men die, but they don’t all live, and Brad Whitesides lived every day of his life until November 1, 2022. He was preceded in death by Pam, Kelly, father, and mother. He will be succeeded in death by all of us. So, live each day with joy because it’s all too absurd to take too seriously. A service will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at 10 am at All Souls Unitarian Church. Donations should be made to the Democratic Party to save the world.
