Hide and Seek

Hide and Seek

January 4

Seek until you find, he says.
You’re never “it.”
So you try to hide,
but then you find
What no one ever finds
In a place you already looked
When you’re looking for a hiding place.
What you find surprises you
Changes you
Rearranges you.
So again you try to hide.
Instead you find
more that’s right
In all that’s wrong.
And you can’t stop finding
Because your eyes are open
And you think you’ve found
What you stopped seeking
Long ago.
