Loneliness II

Loneliness II

January 22

There’s a certain kind of loneliness
That’s only felt by the fish in the aquarium
Who can see the family gathered round the table
The animals in the zoo watching the parents hold hands while they stroll the baby with another one on the way
The prisoner watching his mother approach the glass for her one hour visit
The woman in the bed who knows what she wants but cannot have
There’s a certain kind of loneliness I didn’t feel before because I couldn’t see happiness
So I didn’t know how close it could be
Knowing what you want is so much harder than getting it.
