Crawling from the desert
Sun scorched, sand burned
Skin dry and cracked
My soul more damaged
Than my body
Could it be a
Fertile valley
Lush with promise
Serving all my needs
In perpetuity
To satiate my wants
And dreams
That I never breathed.
God save me
If it be merely an oasis
As I’ll never leave
And not find paradise.
God come for me
If it be a mirage or
I’ll find my own way to hell
Before dawn.
