Choices

I don’t choose what orders to obey
When or how to toe the line
I can’t fathom a world where I do as I’m told
Unless a brilliant mind I find.

The handful who know more than I
The ones who’ve come before
The history books recount their tales
And I come seeking more.

Wise counsel from a clever one
Advice and Knowledge sought
And once I’ve found a source
I stay to study what he wrought.

So teach me all you have to give
And I’ll listen to your truth.
And follow all of your commands
Because it’s you I choose.
