Certainty

Certainty

When I imagine you
Alone in the infinite
With no one else to hold you
Or your basket
Wanting Scotch
To silence the voices in your head
Or find a voice to talk to instead
Of being alone.

When I imagine you
And all your pain
And the suffering in your soul
incompletion
failure
corruption
depravity
judgment
criticism
The suffering you feel
In that moment…

When I imagine you,
I feel it too.
And want to soothe it,
To be your balm.
To make it right
And calm your soul.

But I am not your baby.
And you are not my dad.
You said it, so it must be true.
How is certainty serving you?

I hope you find it within
yourself
Or someone else,
So you do not live without.
