The tie you chose

The tie you chose

When I saw you dressed, the tie you chose
It brought forth something in my soul
To know you put me on like clothes
And let me slink around your throat
I keep my dream in repose
And find a way to gently hold
My story safe and distant, cold
Until I discover that you stole inside and told
Me of your thoughts, your poetry and prose
And draw me back into your fold.
