Love so fair

Love so fair

I can see where I went wrong
This time I’ll be vigilant for waning want
And watch for signs of fading trust
I’ll hope that all that we discuss
Won’t lead to hatred or disgust.

If ever I fight or hide or prowl
Looking for reasons to set you aside
I know how fragile love can be
How easy not to abide
And set fire to flames that once brought passiontide.

This time I won’t let it go
And slip away for lack of care
I’ll stay beside you, tend your dreams
And keep myself as close as I dare
To hold connection, love so fair.
